South Vietnam (Port Calls: 1)*
Port of Call: Saigon - Number of Visits: 1

MS Seven Seas - Fall Voyage 1963 - Voyage 01
* For port calls after 1976 see Vietnam.
** Students on this
voyage have reported that the ship arrived “unexpectedly” in Saigon during the
aftermath of the Nov. 1, 1963 military coup and local authorities were not
prepared for the arrival of the University of the Seven Seas college students. Organized tour groups, consisting of 50
students each were quickly set up, but students drifted away in small groups to
explore Saigon on their on their own, leaving the official tour guides with only
a few students to shepherd through the city.
It should be noted
that the voyage count of 124 includes the five “lost voyages” that have been
unearthed and documented through the efforts of students, faculty members and
administrators who sailed on these “lost” World Campus Afloat voyages.
